Age Group Provincials Report

The Alberta Age Group Provincials were held at Kinsmen Pool from March 5-7 and twenty seven 14 and under swimmers raced for OSC. It was a great meet for the swimmers with tons of new best times, medals, club records and new meet qualifications. One great thing to see was that we had over 20 different individual swimmers competing on all three nights in the finals sessions.
Best times are always the way to the top in swimming, so when a swimmer can go to their biggest meet and achieve a best time in every event then they are doing an amazing job. Congrats to Tayva Fald, Nic Ferland, James Janzen, Fred Kamminga, Abigail Lovsin, Noah Lubberding, and Rian Perrott who were able to go best times in every swim!
Individual medals were won by Kyle Aseron (1 Silver, 2 Bronze), Arynn deLeeuw (1 Silver), Emily Flowers (1 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze), Mack Flowers (1 Gold, 2 Silver, 2 Bronze), Aiden Friesen (1 Gold, 4 Silver, 2 Bronze), Fred Kamminga (1 Silver, 1 Bronze), Georgia Kidd (1 Gold, 2 Silver, 2 Bronze), Paige Kremer (3 Gold, 3 Silver, 2 Bronze), and Noah Lubberding (2 Gold, 1 Silver, 3 Bronze).
We also had relay medals from our 11-12 Girls (Bronze 200 MR - Georgia, Sarah, Alyssa, Tayva), 11-12 Boys (Gold 200 FR & 400 FR, Silver 200 MR - Kyle, Aiden, Fred, Noah) and 13-14 Girls (Gold 200 FR - Paige, Emily, Abigail, Arynn, Gold 400 FR - Paige, Emily, Monica, Arynn, and Silver 200 MR - Paige, Berkley, Emily, Arynn). All three 11-12 boys relays were club records as well, with the 4x50 free being a record more than twice as old as these boys - it was set in 1983! The 13-14 girls 400 free relay was also a club record, and they were less than 2 seconds from the provincial record with all these girls being only 13 years old!
We had a bunch of new qualifiers at this meet as well! Georgia Kidd made her first Western Canadian Champs qualifying time in the 50 free (28.46), James Janzen made his first Age Group National time in 200 breast (2:51.49), and Tayva Fald, Daniel Gerlach, Shyla Golly, and Rian Perrott all qualified for Long Course A Provincials.
In the team scoring race OSC placed fourth overall, but with 2773 points the O's had the highest average points per swimmer of all the large teams in the province. The next step for our team is to get more and more qualifiers to this meet to really move back towards the top of the points race.

Meet Sign Up Forms for the Long Course season (April - July 2010) are now posted on the "Swim Meet Announcements" page under "OSC Meets & Calendars". Also available there is a full list of all the meets and descriptions of each competition. These forms are due back to the office by
March 18, 2010. If you have any questions please talk to your swimmer's coach.
Team Aquatic Supplies Online Store

Attention OSC Members,
The Team Aquatic Supplies (TAS) online store has been activated. The OSC office will no longer be doing any special equipment orders; this includes anything we don’t regularly carry in the office. From now on for Special Orders, you can order directly from TAS and receive the OSC team pricing. You will pay TAS directly and the merchandise will be shipped directly to your house.
How to do it:

www.team-aquatic.com On the top left corner you should see “Login Username” and “Password”.
Enter: Username = olympian Password = olympian
After logging in, shop away!!!
After shopping you will be required to “check-out”, where you will be prompted to pay and asked where you want your goods to be shipped (your home).
If you have any problems or questions about the online store please call TAS directly tool free at 1-800-661-7946. Please feel free to pass along the Username and Password to ANYONE you know. Send it to aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends, and the more the merrier. We would like everyone to be able to share in the OSC team price!
FYI - TAS will not be setting up at Kinsmen this weekend for Provincials, so if you need anything for the weekend, make sure you speak with them ASAP.
