President's Message

Dear OSC Families,

On behalf of the Olympian Swim Club Board of Directors I am happy welcome our swimmers, coaches, and parents to the 2021 – 22 Swim Season! ...fingers crossed.

As we prepare to move forward into a new season and beyond the interruptions of the last two seasons, I want to first acknowledge those swimmers who graduated quietly from our club during this time.  It is regrettable that swimmers and parents who have invested so much time and effort into the sport and our organization have moved on without the championship meets or celebration they deserve.  Notwithstanding, the recent past has taught us that the real value of swimming is not in meets and medals but rather the strong friendships and camaraderie built through the shared struggle of training and pursuit of common goals with friends.

As we approach this season with cautious optimism the threat of a fourth wave remains.  As an organization and individually we must remain vigilant and do what is in our ability to protect each other and ensure that we are all able to stay in the water.

Like all organizations emerging from the dormancy of the pandemic there will be rust.  In addition to the interruption to training and racing so has the normal evolution and succession of roles and responsibilities in areas such as officiating, meet management, and club organization been interrupted.  In the coming months the club will be looking to both new and returning parents to assume these critical roles ensuring that the quality swim meets that OSC is known for can resume.  I encourage all our members to consider and seek out new opportunities in these crucial areas.

Most importantly I look forward to seeing our OSC swimmers returning to training and competition under the leadership of Head Coach Lesley Serediak, first year Head Assistant Coach Baylee Munro and Team Manager Victoria Etheridge.

See you all on deck very soon.  Be vaccinated and be safe.

Sincerely,

Jared Buhler – President OSC
