OSC Swimmers win BIG at first long course meet of the season!
From January 30th to February 1st, 2026 45 OSC swimmers participated in the first long course meters competition of the season: Edmonton Open. The meet was hosted by the Keyano Swim Club at the Kinsmen Sports Centre. Edmonton Open provides a unique challenge to our younger swimmers who have to compete in an open age category against some of the best swimmers in the province. The meet also features the Final 4 race where the top 4 swimmers from each event in prelims have the opportunity to race for some cash prizes!
To start us off with big results, Evan Brake became the Hat Trick record holder setting new PROVINCIAL RECORDS for Boys 11 years old in the 50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke events! Congratulations to Evan on some amazing races! All of OSC is extremely proud of you!
We also had one of our club records fall. Regan Peace in the 50m backstroke broke the Open Age Group Club record going 26.68. Congratulations Regan!
Over the weekend, OSC had 6 swimmers qualify and impress in the Final 4 events:
Tucker Buhler won both the 400m Freestyle and 1500m Freestyle events!
Layne Birbeck finished 4th 200 Breaststroke Final 4!
Kobyn Kirchner finished 4th in the Para Finals in 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle events!
Alex Lim finished 2nd in the 200 Backstroke!
Sophia Musselman won the 100 Backstroke!
Regan Peace won the 50m and 100m Backstroke events!
Congratulations to our final swimmers!
As a team OSC also produced over 150 best times! This is a testament to the hard work these swimmers put into the pool every day and the coaches are so proud of their performances.
Next up for these swimmers is the February Splash on Sunday February 22nd. A last chance for some swimmers to achieve Provincial Trials and Champs times. Good luck swimmers and keep up the great work!
