Kirchner Impresses at Ken Demchuk!

Over the weekend of November 28th - 30th, 2025 Olympian Swim Club was represented by Kobyn Kirchner at the Ken Demchuk International Invitational swim meet in Markham, ON. This meet is a national level competition for para-swimmers who have met the meet qualifying standards for their classification.

Kobyn Kirchner at the young age of 15 competed in 5 events against the top swimmers in his classification in an open age group. And in a meet that saw where 3 Canadian recordswere broken and some big names in the para-world such as world record holders Aurélie Rivard (S10 100, 200, and 400 freestyle), Tess Routliffe (SB7 50 breaststroke), Danielle Dorris (S7 50 butterfly), and Sebastian Massabie (S4 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly), Kirchner stepped up to the blocks with confidence and finished the meet with outstanding results.

  • 400 Free - 9 seconds best time and third place finish
  • 100 Back - 2 seconds best time and fifth place finish
  • 100 Free - 2 seconds best time and fifth place finish
  • 50 Free - best time and fifth place finish
  • 100 Breast - best time and sixth place finish

Kobyn was also selected to be part of a special Team Canada relay made up of athletes from all classifications to give para-swimmers an opportunity to participate in relays that they don’t normally get. He also learned a lot from leading coaches in the field and got to network with other para-swimmers as we continue to grow the sport for para-athletes and giving them opportunities to race.

OSC is extremely proud of all the hard work done by Kobyn and we look forward to seeing him race at the upcoming JP Fiset swim meet in his home pool!
