OSC’s 33 qualifiers had a spectacular performance this past weekend at the SwimAlberta 2026 Winter Festivals. All swimmers reaped the fruits of their labour, and we’re able to showcase their skills on the provincial stage. We had many standout performances, including a new club record, youth recognition swims, 47 podium placements, and 120 personal bests.
PROVINCIAL CLUB RECORD ALERT:
11-year-old Evan Brake took down an 18-year club record in the 11-12 age category in 100 IM with a time of 1:10.80. This is also the fastest time ever in Alberta for the 11-year-old boys 100 IM. Fantastic work, Evan, you continue to be a powerhouse every time you step up to the blocks!
Youth Recognition:
Swim Alberta celebrated swimmers who have achieved Top 1, Top 10, and Top 5 (10&Under swimmers) swims throughout the season—huge congratulations to the following swimmers who achieved this incredible feat.
Top 1- Evan Brake raced to gold with an impressive personal best of 1:09.28 in the 100m backstroke!
Top 10:
11-year-old Evan Brake (400 free, 800 free, 100 back, 200 back, 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 breast, 50 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM, 400 IM)
12-year-old Tao So (400 free, 800 free, 1500 free, 200 back, 200 fly, 400 IM)
Top 5:
9-year-old Adam Shumilov raced to his first-ever Top 5 time in the 50m butterfly, with a time of 36.46. This swim also won him a gold medal!
10-year-old Top 5 Youth Recognition swimmers:

Red vs. Blue Relay Participants:
The top 8 swimmers in the 50m freestyle got to compete on the Red vs. Blue Relay, a fun exhibition event where we got to witness some fun face-offs between swimmers from various teams. Congrats to the following swimmers who represented their age category:
Luke Li - 2nd (10&Under boys team Blue)
Beckham Dodd - 3rd (10&Under boys team Blue)
Jeremy Tchir - 6th (10&Under boys team Blue)
Kai Rymer - 6th (11 year old boys team Blue)
Para-Swimming Highlight:
Alaric Lavallee (PSPI) took on his first-ever provincial meet and took home 4 gold medals! Keep up the great work, Alaric!

OSC could not be prouder of the talent that represented us at Winter Festivals! Thank you to all coaches, parents, and officials for helping our swimmers thrive in the pool. We are very excited to see what OSC can do at Provincial Trials and Provincial Championships in March.
