OSC Swimmers Stand Tall at Swim Alberta Winter Provincial Champs

This past weekend OSC along with Swim Alberta hosted over 600 athletes at the 2026 Winter Provincial Championships.  Before we get into the team results; a MASSIVE thank you to the parent volunteers who made this competition possible.  The results we celebrate would not exist if it was not for the long hours you put in to ensure these swimmers had a great meet!

Records fall!

OSC had 3 new club records this weekend!

Tao So set a record in the Males 11-12 year old 800m Freestyle with a time of 9:25.83 breaking the old record by almost 15 seconds held by Erik Olson and narrowly missed breaking the Provincial Record by 1 second.  Tao is sure to be targeting that record at his next competition so stay tuned!  Tao also broke the Males 11-12 year old 400IM record with a time of 5:12.18 breaking the 10 year old record by Alexandr Lapshin.  Congratulations Tao on two amazing accomplishments.

Regan Peace added to the record tally by breaking the Male Open 50m Backstroke record with his time of 26.68 breaking the old record by .17 held by OSC alumni Frederik Kamminga. Congratulations Regan!

New Qualifiers!

We have a new Best of the West qualifier!  Ivy Maguire cruised her way in the 200m Butterfly with a time of 2:37.91 and booked her ticket to the inaugural event in Winnipeg at the end of April!  The coaches are extremely proud of Ivy!

Tucker Buhler after weeks of training hard and a few short misses at swim meets, finally got his Canadian Open time standards in the 800m Freestyle with a time of 8:39.78 and he now gets to compete with Canada’s best athletes at the April 9-11th event right here at the Kinsmen Sports Centre!  Be sure to get your tickets and cheer on OSC swimmers as they race against Canada’s best!

We also had some swimmers add more events to their Best of the West events list:

Tao So got 3 more BOW times in the 800 Free, 1500 Free and 400 Free

Joshua Bodet got 3 BOW more times in the 200 Free, 200IM and 1500 Free

Alex Lim got 1 BOW more time in the 50 Butterfly

Sophia Musselman got the Canadian Open time in 200 IM

Leo Wang got 4 more BOW times in 800 Free, 200 Butterfly, 200 Backstroke and 200 Breaststroke

Congratulations to all our new qualifiers and new event qualifiers!
